Methodology
Every PCTechBlitzer review follows the same playbook: we buy or borrow the product, run it through a standard benchmark suite, and live with it long enough to find the things specs can't tell you.
Test rig
- GPU bench: Ryzen 9 7950X3D · 64 GB DDR5-6000 · 2 TB NVMe · 1000 W PSU · Windows 11 24H2.
- Laptop bench: 25 °C ambient, power supply connected, balanced power plan, 30-minute soak before results are recorded.
- Monitor bench: X-Rite i1Display Pro Plus at 100% screen brightness, response-time measured per VESA ClearMR methodology.
Scoring
The headline score is 0–10 (one decimal place). It aggregates four axes: performance, build quality, value at MSRP, and intangibles (thermals, noise, ergonomics, software). We weight these differently per category — performance matters more for a GPU than a monitor.
Update cadence
We re-verify prices weekly. When a product drops in price or is
superseded, we update the review and bump the updatedAt
date shown at the top of the article.
